Home drying
If you’d like to do some drying of foraged foods, herbs, fruit and vegetables at home we recommend you check out the range of home-dehydrators at UK Juicers www.ukjuicers.com It’s how Gustosecco started!

The best book on home drying we’ve found is Making and Using Dried Foods by Phyllis Hobson. It’s a US-published book but you can buy it from amazon.co.uk
Not so dry
Trilling update
Back last year we told you about our friends at organic Trill Farm near Axminster, Devon and their project to build a walk-in dehydrator for drying their own organic farm produce and foraged wild produce.
We’ve agreed to buy from Trill dried produce that we can use in our own products; pumpkin for example or nettles and wild garlic.
The dehydrator is now complete and the team at Trill are experimenting with drying produce from around their fields and farmland.
Pictured here are the dehydrator and one or two general shots of this beautiful place in its idyllic setting.
We’ll keep you up-to-date with what Trill produce for us to buy and use.

Bella Sicilia
We were lucky enough to visit there back in February and of course food was on the agenda. What we loved about Sicily is just how much dried produce is available. The outdoor market in Siracusa and Palermo’s Capo market were full of stalls selling sundried tomatoes, herbs and seeds in huge piles or little bags, dried anchovies, dried fruits, beans, grains and pulses. Gustosecco heaven!
Here are just some of the images we brought back with us including pics from a local dried-produce store on Siracusa market, Angela and Francesca’s fantastic dried-food deli in Siracusa centro storico and the amazing Dainotti in the Capo market, Palermo. Buon appetito!
